Just wondering...

I wonder if a person can be allergic to some dogs, but not all dogs? Or allergic to long-haired dogs but not short-haired dogs? Because I don't have a problem with Lucy in the house or in my lap. But I can spend ten minutes around other dogs and be stuffed up for days. Maybe it's my imagination. Or a weird coincidence. But it happens. It's happening now, as a matter of fact.

Source,
The UIC is allergic to Tigger - the first cat we ever had. It was BAD. With Cinnamon though we've been very fortunate. So I am guessing it's possible....

I had a friend in High School that was allergic to shedding dogs (usually the straight--haired and larger breeds) but not to non-shedding dogs (poodles and curly haired dogs) Not to say that they don't shed at all, they just don't shed winter coats in the same manner.

Also, if your dog is an inside dog and the others are outside dogs - they may be carrying more allergens then your dog.
